The LeTourneau University men's basketball dropped a 69-55 decision to host Sul Ross State on Thursday evening in Alpine.

The YellowJackets (5-19, 3-16 ASC) were led by freshman
Kelby Schimming, who had 15 points and seven rebounds and senior
Josh Thornton (pictured), who had 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Senior
Aaron Frizell also added 10 points in the game for the YellowJackets.
For Schimming, it was his sixth-straight game and 11
th contest that the Friendswood native had reached double digits. Plus, it was the seventh time in double digits for Thornton.

"We got good looks, but did not finish," said LETU head coach
Dan Miller. "I am proud of our fight but we are frustrated we have not finished both inside and out better."

The Lobos (5-19, 5-14 ASC) had three in double digits including Stephon Holland, who had a game-high 17 points, Alex Harrison had 13 and Rocky Feliciano added 11 for Sul Ross State. SRSU made 42.9% (24-for-56) of its shots from the field and 41.1% (5-for-12) of its 3-point attempts. Â

LeTourneau held a 23-21 lead with 5:37 left to play in the first half when Frizell hit a 3 pointer for the YellowJackets. Then, an 11-0 run over the final 5:26 to close out the first half put SRSU ahead for the remainder of the contest.
"We have great young men and we will fight till the end of this season," said Miller.
The YellowJackets will close out the season with a 3 p.m. contest at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.Â
