LeTourneau University sophomore
Bria Goodman scored a career-high 18 points to lead the YellowJackets to a 68-67 win over Concordia on Thursday night in Longview. The win gives LETU its second two-game winning streak of the season. The last time that LeTourneau defeated Concordia at home was on November 30, 2002.
The YellowJackets (6-14, 4-11 ASC) used an aggressive man-to-man defense to fluster the Tornados and hold the visitors to 45% shooting from the field. Goodman gave the YellowJackets a spark with her aggressive approach to the game, driving to the basket. The Houston native was a perfect 10-for-10 line to complement a 4-for-8 effort from the field for her 18 points. She was joined in double digits by fellow sophomore
Ashley Reed, who had 15 points in the win. A third sophomore –
Meagan Peters contributed six points and five rebounds in the win and off the bench, junior
Te'Andra Richardson had eight points and nine rebounds in the win.

The Tornados regained the lead with four unanswered points by Johnson with 2:29 to play for a 65-64 lead.
Following a media timeout, a second-chance basket by LETU senior
Rebecca Stewart put the YellowJackets ahead by one, 65-64 and for the rest of the contest. Reed made two free throws with 1:14 to play to stretch the margin to three, 67-64. Concordia cut the deficit to one when Johnson scored again with :53 to play, 67-66. After a missed shot by the YellowJackets, Concordia went back to Johnson for a game-winning basket with :04 to play that fell short to allow LETU to prevail for the one-point victory. Â
