An RBI single in the fourth inning was just enough to lead No. 10 Concordia to a 1-0 win over LeTourneau University on Friday night in Austin.
Â
The YellowJackets (8-6, 6-3 ASC) were limited to five hits by a pair of Tornados' pitchers Ragan Pope and Justin Traxler. LETU starting pitcher
Cody Whitley was the tough-luck loser, allowing just three hits and striking out five in the loss to fall to 1-3 on the season.
Â
The Tornados (19-4, 14-1 ASC) scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth on a two out RBI single by Hutton. The single by Hutton scored Evan, who had reached on an infield single to start the inning.
Â
LETU had an opportunity to tie in the sixth inning against Traxler as the YellowJackets loaded the bases on a walk, a single and a hit by pitch but the Tornados' picked up a ground out to end the threat. LETU also had an opportunity in the eighth but the Concordia defense and Traxler kept the visitors off the scoreboard.
Â
The two teams will wrap up the weekend series on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
