LETU Baseball Drops Twinbill to UT Tyler

The LeTourneau University baseball team lost a twinbill to host University of Texas at Tyler, 4-0 and 5-0 on Saturday.

The YellowJackets (10-13, 8-9 ASC) were limited to three hits in each game of the doubleheader by Patriots pitching. In game one, David Perkins accounted for two of the three hits in the loss. LeTourneau starter Justin Jenkins allowed eight hits and struck out two in the loss to fall to 3-3 on the season.

UT Tyler (24-9, 19-5 ASC) scored twice in the first and added two more in the fourth inning for the win. UTT starting pitcher Cason Adams went the distance, striking out four for the win to improve to 7-2 on the season.

In game two, following three scoreless innings, Texas-Tyler got on the board with a two-run home run by Buddy McCoy in the fourth inning.

Plus, a RBI single in the fourth and sixth inning by the Patriots' Garrett Nelson stretched the lead to 4-0; then, Blake Bonnin added a RBI double in the eighth for the final margin. The Patriots got their second complete game of the day from Cade Suggs, who allowed three hits and struck out one to improve to 3-2.

The LeTourneau offense got a hit each from Bryce Henry, David Perkins and Dillon Yates in the loss.

LeTourneau will return home to host the University of Dallas in a doubleheader on Tuesday night at Conrad-Vernon Field. First pitch for the twinbill will be at 5 p.m.
