A seven-run bottom of the sixth inning in game one and a seven-run effort in the bottom of the fifth propelled host Hardin-Simmons to a doubleheader sweep of the LeTourneau University softball team. HSU came from behind in both games to defeat LETU, 12-6 in game one and 8-3 in game two.

LeTourneau (9-15, 4-12 ASC) rallied to take a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth until the host Cowgirls scored seven times on eight hits for the 12-6 win. Seven-different players had a hit including freshman
Kelsi Coleman, who had two hits and freshman
Brianna Williams hit a grand slam in the sixth. Senior
Kaylee Pritchett was the losing pitcher, falling to 2-7 on the year.

Coleman put LETU ahead early on a RBI double in the first inning before HSU answered with a two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning. HSU extended its lead with a three-run third inning for a 5-1 lead. Then, the YellowJackets mounted a comeback in the sixth. The big blast in the inning was the grand slam by Williams that tied the game at 5 and a RBI triple by junior
Megan Hill put the visitors ahead 6-5.

Then, the Cowgirls sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom half of the inning. A two-RBI single put Hardin-Simmons back in front; then, they added to their lead on a RBI single and a second home run of the game by Keegan Jiminez. HSU starting pitcher Tori Rodriguez pitched six innings, scattering seven hits and six runs for the win to improve to 9-0.

Megan Hill each had three hits in the nightcap for the YellowJackets. HSU spread nine hits among seven players in the win including Sydnie Darden and Carley Willis, who each had two. For the Cowgirls' Rodriguez went five innings, allowing five hits and striking out four for her second win of the day and to raise her record to 10-0.

Twice in the game, LeTourneau held a lead including in the fifth inning. A RBI double by Hill scored
Taylor Kaderli for a 2-1 lead in favor of the YellowJackets. Â Then, a seven-run bottom of the fifth by HSU proved to be the difference in the game. In the inning, HSU scored its seven runs on five hits and capitalized on a pair of LETU errors. Gauspohl hit her second home run of the season in the sixth for the final margin.
