The LeTourneau University softball team completed a series sweep of Sul Ross State on Tuesday with a 10-1 rout in five innings in Alpine.

LeTourneau (15-19, 10-16 ASC) overcame an early 1-0 deficit to score the next 10 runs for the win. In the win, LeTourneau had 12 hits with nine-different players recording a hit.
Kelsie Benson,
Courtney Matulis,
Bailey Woodard and
Nikole Williams each had two hits to pace the attack. Williams had a team-high three RBI, plus Matulis and Benson each added.

Courtney Matulis pitched four innings of two-hit softball, allowing one unearned run and struck out four to improve to 5-8.
Ashley Burdine pitched a scoreless fifth to wrap up the contest for the YellowJackets.

Sul Ross State (3-29, 3-25 ASC) got on the board on a sacrifice fly in the first inning for the early lead.

The YellowJackets retaliated with a seven run second inning to take a 7-1 lead. In the inning, Williams hit a three-RBI triple as well as Benson and Matulis each had a two-RBI single. In the fourth inning, Matulis and Woodard each had a RBI double for a 9-1 lead in favor of the guests. LETU scored its final run in the fifth inning for the final margin.

After the game, LeTourneau head coach
Kate Bell-Keierleber announced a revised schedule for the upcoming weekend series against Concordia. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the LETU Softball Field. Between the two games on Saturday, LeTourneau will hold Senior Day activities in honor of
Erin Paterson and
Kaylee Pritchett.
