The LeTourneau University softball team dropped an 8-0 decision to host No. 18 Louisiana College on Wednesday in Pineville, Louisiana.

Louisiana College (23-5, 18-2 ASC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. The host Wildcats had 11 hits in the win including a pair from Emorie Nugent, Jordan Mason and Regan LeJeune. LC scored five times on four hits for the early lead.

They added a run in the fourth inning on a RBI ground out by Courtney Ivey; then, the Wildcats closed out the game in the fifth inning, scoring on RBI singles by Nugent and Jade Johnson. LC starting pitcher Taylor Legler pitched all five innings, scattering three hits and striking out one in the win to improve to 5-1.

The YellowJackets return to action for a crucial three-game series against UT Dallas that will get underway with a doubleheader on Friday night at 5 p.m. The series will wrap up on Saturday at noon.Â
