LeTourneau Softball Defeats UT Dallas, 5-2

A three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth by junior Rachel Gauspohl propelled the LeTourenau University softball team to a 5-2 win over UT Dallas on Friday night at the LETU Softball Field.

With the game tied at 2 and one out in the bottom of the sixth, freshman catcher Kelsie Benson was hit by a pitch. Then, a single by junior Brianna Williams put runners on the corners for Gauspohl, who hit her second home run of the season for the three-run lead. 

LeTourneau (11-18, 5-12 ASC) snapped a nine-game home losing streak with the win. Gauspohl went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead a six-hit attack for LeTourneau. Senior Kaylee Pritchett went the distance for the complete game, surrendering just four hits and striking out four in the win to improve to 3-8.

UT Dallas (10-18, 6-16 ASC) spread four hits among four-different players. Lauren McLeod was the losing pitcher, scattering five hits, five runs in the defeat to fall to 5-10 on the season.
 
The two teams will wrap up the weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
