A goal in each half was just enough to lead the No. 20 UT Dallas men's soccer team past LeTourneau, 2-0 on Saturday evening in Longview.
The Comets (6-1-1) ended a scoreless contest in the 23
rd minute when Jason Harvath took a crossing pass from teammate Danny Meyer for the early lead. Then, Meyer added an insurance tally in the 61
st minute for the final margin.
LeTourneau (2-4-1) had a chance to cut into the lead when sophomore
Jacob Ribbe ripped off a shot from the top of the box in the 80
th minute that sailed high. The other opportunity for LETU came in the 10
th minute when a shot by junior
Hunter Swift that also sailed high and over the YellowJackets' goal. LETU goalkeeper
Miguel Cabrera had eight saves in the loss for the YellowJackets.
UTD goalkeeper Joseph Weber played the entire match to record his fourth shutout of the season for the Comets.
Next, LeTourneau will take to the road to face local rival to begin American Southwest Conference play, East Texas Baptist on Friday, Sept. 25 at 5 p.m.
