Rydeja Daniels of Louisiana College made a lay-up with eight seconds to lead the host Wildcats to a 73-71 win over LeTourneau University women's basketball team on Saturday in Pineville, Louisiana.

The Wildcats (7-10, 5-5 ASC) came out of a :30 timeout to set up what proved to be the game-winning basket by Daniels in a contest where the score was tied seven times and lead changed nine more times.
LC had three in double figures, including Kourtney McGhee (17 points), Brooke Jones (15 points) and Jakasia Newton (12 points) in the win. Jones finished with a double double, grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds.
LeTourneau (12-8, 7-4 ASC) junior
LaTanya Drakes tied the game at 71 with :54 to play; then each team turned the ball over. Drakes finished the contest with 15 points for her 14th game in double figures for the season.

Ashley Stephens, who had a double double with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds and junior
Crystal Jones, who had 19 points including five 3-pointers. It is the third double double of the season for Stephens and Jones has scored in double figures in 19 of 20 games.

After trailing by one in the opening quarter, Louisiana College scored the first four points of the second quarter for an early five-point lead. Later in the quarter, the YellowJackets ended the quarter with an 11-4 run for a 35-29 halftime lead.
LeTourneau held the lead for nearly the entire third quarter and stretched the margin to seven, 54-47, to start the fourth quarter when Jones made a 3-pointer. An 8-0 run by the Wildcats put Louisiana College in front for the first time since the 4:19 mark of the second quarter.

The game remained close for the rest of the contest with neither team able to sustain a lead with the score being tied on three occasions in the final four minutes and the lead changed on five occasions.
Late in the contest, LeTourneau faced a five-point deficit before a 7-2 spurt by Drakes and Jones tied the game at 69 with 1:37 to play. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch until it was decided by the lay-up by Daniels with eight seconds to play. A steal by Jones with a second left sealed the win for the Wildcats.

Next, the two teams will face one another again, but this time in Longview on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Solheim Arena. Â
