LeTourneau women's basketball led by as many as eight over Texas Lutheran on Tuesday night but a 13-0 TLU run to finish the game would earn the 76-62 victory for the Bulldogs.
 
LaTanya Drakes scored a career high 24 points as she made 10 field goals on 19 attempts. The senior forward also pulled down eight rebounds and swiped five steals to lead the YellowJackets in all three categories.
 
LeTourneau (0-3) couldn't find the range as they connected on only three 3-point field goals on 14 attempts. Crystal Jones was the other YellowJacket in double figures as she scored 14 points. Fellow senior Bria Goodman led LETU with five assists to go along with nine points and two steals.
 
In the first half, Ashley Crockett sparked the YellowJackets with her defensive effort. The senior forward took three charges to energize her team. Crockett would finish with seven points and five rebounds.
 
A LaTanya Drakes jumper with 1:53 remaining in the second quarter gave LeTourneau an eight-point lead, their largest of the game. LETU would go into the half up four over the Bulldogs.
 
The YellowJackets would maintain their lead throughout the third quarter and held a 49-48 edge going into the final period. After a TLU run, Drakes connected from behind the arc to pull LETU within one at 62-63 with 3:43 to go. LeTourneau wouldn't score again as Texas Lutheran went on a 13-0 run take the 14-point win.
 
The YellowJacket women will return to Longview and prepare for their home opener against Centenary College (Louisiana) on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. in Solheim Arena.
