The LeTourneau University baseball team scored five times in the seventh inning to comeback from a 3-1 deficit to post a 7-3 win over No. 15 UT Tyler on Thursday evening at Irwin Field.

The YellowJackets (6-9, 3-4 ASC), who were playing in their first game in 11 days showed no signs of rust as they had 12 hits in the win. Leading the attack was junior Kyle Jacobs (pictured), who had a career-high four hits including a solo home run in the eighth. Senior Sean Sellers, junior Jacob Simmons each had two hits and a run scored and freshman Lee Hosie had two hits in the win.

LeTourneau junior Jordan Carns picked up the win, improving to 3-3 after allowing eight hits and striking out three. Freshman Will Bradshaw pitched the final three innings, striking out four for his first collegiate save.

The Patriots (16-8, 6-4 ASC) were led by Blake Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Alex Bishop added two hits and Trenton Buchhorn drove in a pair for UT Tyler in the defeat.

LeTourneau faced a two-run deficit in the top of the seventh against reliever Jacob Clark, who came into the game after a six-inning stint by starter Cason Adams, who allowed six hits and struck out four. The YellowJackets started the inning with back-to-back hits - a single by Sellers and a double by senior Taylor Empkey, cutting the deficit to one, 3-2. Then, a single by Simmons and a wild pitch by Clark loaded the bases for senior Brandon Applewhite, who tied the contest at 3 with his second sacrifice fly of the game.

Then, the YellowJackets reloaded the bases as senior Dylan Wadyko battled back from a 1-2 count to reach on a walk. With the bases loaded, Hosie emptied the bases with a double to the gap in right-center field to put LeTourneau ahead 6-3.

Jacobs and LeTourneau added an insurance run in the eighth when he hit a solo home run over the left-field fence for his second homerun of the season.

The series will conclude on Friday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
