LeTourneau University men's soccer opened the season in dramatic fashion with a 1-0 overtime victory over Texas Luther University under the lights at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

Attikus Martinez and was able to head it passed the TLU keeper as he scored the game-winning goal. The late game heroics got the crowd off their feet and cleared the YellowJacket bench for a victory celebration.

The YellowJackets (1-0, 0-0 ASC) battled for 94 minutes in a physical contest as both teams made threatening runs and each took 11 shots in the game. Junior goalkeeper
Brian Howell had four saves on the way to his second career shutout.

"I am so proud of this team. We battled the entire game. I am especially glad for our back line and Brian as they were able to get the shutout," said head coach Matt Haesecke following the game.

The YellowJackets will ride the energy of this early season overtime thriller into their next home matchup on Saturday at 3 PM against the Mountaineers from Schreiner University.
