LONGVIEW, Texas - Thanks in part to multiple gifts to both the LeTourneau University athletic department as well as LeTourneau University's general gift fund, fans attending events in Solheim Arena following Christmas break will find a new look and feel to the home of the YellowJackets.

Brand new seating will be installed during the month of December, and will be completed in time for the first home game of the second semester as the YellowJacket men's and women's basketball teams will host the University of Texas-Dallas in an American Southwest Conference doubleheader on Saturday, January 13th. The new seating will replace the current seating that has been in place since the construction of Solheim Arena in 1996 while adding an extra level of comfort for fans at games.

429 metro chair back seats will be installed on one side of the arena behind the team benches and scorer's table while the opposite side of the arena will be equipped with 551 bleacher seats. In addition to keeping the capacity of Solheim Arena the same as the prior configuration, the new royal blue seating will enhance the overall appearance and comfort of the arena while adding to the gameday experience.

"The addition of new seating in Solheim Arena is a dream come true for LeTourneau University and LeTourneau Athletics" said LeTourneau University athletic director Terri Deike. "We have been working on new seating for years and are thankful to Dr. Lunsford and the generous donors who made this upgrade a reality." "Royal blue seating will not only enhance the safety, appearance and comfort of the arena but will add to the overall appeal to fans, guests and recruits." "A more collegiate look and feel will help create a great game day environment that will be exciting for everyone." "Again, we are so thankful to our supporters and donors for this great addition to the LETU Athletic facilities."

The LeTourneau University men's basketball team will get their season underway next Wednesday evening on November 15th with a 7 p.m. home game against Austin College while the YellowJacket women will see their first home action come on Thursday, November 29th at 5:30 p.m. against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
