LONGVIEW, Texas - In the first of two matches to be played by the LeTourneau University men's tennis team, the visiting Wisconsin-Eau Claire BluGolds would claim an 8-1 decision over the YellowJackets at the Davis Tennis Courts in Longview, Texas on Monday, March 19th.
LETU will enter their afternoon match with a 3-6 overall record while the BluGolds improved to 10-1 overall.
UWEC took two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead as the only victory for the YellowJackets of the morning came at number one doubles with
Christian Farris and
Jimmie Henson taking a 9-8 (8-6) decision for their seventh victory in a row. The number two doubles match saw
Robby Bundy and
Zac Crowley-Kurth fall by a score of 8-1 while
Nash Best and
Dale Wallace dropped an 8-3 decision at number three doubles.
Singles matches did not fare any better for LeTourneau in the match, with Wallace falling by a score of 6-1, 6-1 at number one singles and Henson dropping a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 decision at number two singles. Number three singles saw Bundy fall by a score of 6-1, 6-0 while Crowley-Kurth would come up short by scores of 6-4, 6-4 at number four singles. The other two singles matches saw Best (6-0, 6-1) and
Cameron Wall (7-5, 6-1) drop their decisions at number five and number six singles.
Due to a two-hour rain delay to the morning, the YellowJackets will now get pushed back until closer to 6:30 p.m. tonight to take on Texas A&M University-Texarkana. The match will get underway following the conclusion of the TAMU-Texarkana and Wisconsin-Eau Claire match which directly precedes the match between LETU and the Eagles.
