LONGVIEW -- LeTourneau men's soccer team dropped a back-and-forth battle to Belhaven, 3-2, at home Saturday night.
It snapped a three-game win streak for the YellowJackets, who fell percentage points behind the Blazers in the American Southwest Conference standings. LETU is 5-6-2 overall, 3-3-0 in a tie for seventh in the league. Belhaven is 9-2-1, 3-2-1 in a tie for fifth.
LeTourneau took a 2-1 lead when
Dustin Gray deposited a setup from
Russell Gray over Blazers goalkeeper Max Rudolph in the 28th minute. That came 15 minutes after
Russell Gray tied the game at a goal apiece with a strike in the upper left portion of the net on a double assist from
Angel Rivera and
Luis De La Torre.
Belhaven's Max Maguire squared the game at 2-2 just under nine minutes before halftime when he converted a pass from Nathan Ratzlaff.
The YellowJackets outshot the Blazers, 9-5, in the first half.Â
Tyler White scored the gamewinner in the 48th minute on another assist from Ratzlaff, and Belhaven held off LeTourneau's push the rest of the way.
Jared Woodruff and
Russell Gray each ripped off a shot within a 16-second span in the 66th minute, but Rudolph turned them away.Â
LeTourneau finished with 16 shots, including nine on goal. Belhaven had nine, five on net. Rudolph made seven saves, including five in the second half. LETU keeper
Diego Berlingeri stopped two shots.
LETU plays at Ozarks 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
