YellowJackets Tie Program Record for Wins

LONGVIEW – LeTourneau University's volleyball team took time to honor and thank their parents prior to their pair of matches against Belhaven University and Texas Lutheran University Saturday.

The YellowJackets swept the Blazers, 25-12, 25-12, 25-14, in the opening match. With the win, the Jackets (13-8, 6-3 American Southwest Conference) tied the season program record for wins. The last time the Jackets reached that win total was 2015.

In the conference win against the Blazers (7-14, 2-6), Kianna Crow posted a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, three of the Jackets' eight service aces, two blocks, and hit .333. Taylor Smith had six kills and 12 digs, while hitting .375. Mikayla Thomas finished with five kills, three aces, three digs, four blocks, and hit .273. Cam Taylor had 18 digs and two aces. Natalie Davenport finished the match with 27 assists.

The Jackets hit .519 in the third set with 14 kills and zero attack errors.

Chelsea Creighton had four kills, and Vivien Marquez three kills and three digs for the Blazers. The Jackets held the Blazers to a -.050 attack rate for the match.

In LETU's second match of the day, the Bulldogs swept the Jackets, 25-16, 25-13, 25-21, after coming off their own sweep of Belhaven in the previous match.

LETU drew within one point in the third set at 22-21 on a kill from Lexie Welton, but could not take the set as the Bulldogs went on a 3-0 run to win the match. The Bulldogs (14-11), who hit .406 in the second set, held the Jackets to 28 kills, one block, and a .129 attack rate. The Bulldogs also put down 51 kills in the match on 120 attempts.

Crow had nine kills, nine digs, an ace and a block. Thomas finished with five kills and a block. Taylor picked up 11 digs. Davenport dished out 26 assists. Bryten Mitchan had 16 kills and two blocks for the Bulldogs, while hitting .455. Paige Day added 11 kills, 11 digs, a block, and hit .375.

LeTourneau will host Austin College in Solheim Arena at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
