LONGVIEW -- Prosperity Bank, Vera Bank and Austin Bank each won Flight titles at the Encore Multimedia LeTourneau University Athletics Golf Classic Monday at Pinecrest Country Club to support YellowJackets Athletics.
Prosperity Bank's foursome of Eddie Lick, Pat Fuller, Brandon Bridges and Duncan McAdoo won the Flight 1 championship with a 54 in the best-ball format golf outing. Papa John's team of Giovanni Cabrera, Danny Rivers, Jacob Grubbs and Brock Parker combined for a 60 to finish as the Flight 1 runner-up.
Vera Bank's quartet of Cliff Hale, Kirk Henderson, Craig Parr and Brian Daughbjerg shot 65 to claim the Flight 2 title on a tiebreaker. They edged out Hayes RV Center's David Hayes, Bill Thompson, Sean Hanson and Bruce Swank, who also combined for a 65.
Austin Bank's team of Dan Droege, Steve Metcalf, Richard Manley and Keith Moyes won the Flight 3 championship on a tiebreaker after shooting 69. Dale Deike's team of Dale Deike, Joe Bob Taylor, John Palmer, Jon Cromer and Jeff DeHart also shot 69 to finish second.
Monday's event marked the second year of the LETU Golf Classic. Proceeds are used to fund facility updates, athletic department enhancements and providing travel support for LeTourneau teams to improve strength of schedule. This year's outing major sponsors were title sponsor Encore Multimedia, Joyce Crane, PING, Transet, Hayes RV, KRS Jet Center, Sysco, Vera Bank, Mosby Mechanical, Papa John's Pizza and Harbour, Smith and Merritt.

Terri Deike said. "We cannot stress enough how much the support of those involved benefits YellowJackets Athletics."
Last year, proceeds from the Golf Classic were used to purchase new backstops for the baseball and softball fields, windscreens for the tennis courts, a computer for the sports information department, new uniforms for the volleyball and women's basketball teams, while assisting in travel expenses for the tennis team's Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., and the volleyball team's trip to Colorado this fall. Money was also used to help team fundraising efforts.
