LONGVIEW -- LeTourneau University men's soccer team dropped the second game of a weekend homestand to Sewanee Saturday night, losing 3-0.
The YellowJackets (1-3-2) outshot the Tigers (4-1-1) in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome Sewanee in the non-conference matchup. LeTourneau had six shots in the second half, but couldn't get any on net. The Tigers had six shots, and finished with 14 for the game. LETU had 13 shots in the game -- its only two on frame in the first half.
The Tigers added on to their one-goal halftime lead with a pair of quick strikes in the second half when Tashinga Vhumisai scored on a pass from Thompson Schollaert 1:15 into the half. A minute and 27 seconds later, the same two connected again, this time with Schollaert cashing in to give the Tigers a three-goal cushion.
LeTourneau mounted a late charge, picking up its offensive pressure late in the second half, but the YellowJackets failed to reach the back of the net.
Chancey Davis had two shots, and
Luis De La Torre two more. De La Torre and
Oliver Placencia accounted for LeTourneau's two shots on goal.
LETU goalkeeper
Diego Berlingeri made three saves in the loss. James Murray had two saves, while playing the first 76 minutes for the Tigers, and JP Furman cleaned up the rest of the way.
Both teams attempted five corner kicks. The Tigers were whistled for 12 fouls, while the YellowJackets committed seven.
LeTourneau will host Millsaps at 7 p.m. next Saturday in the final non-conference game of the season.
