AUSTIN, Texas – LeTourneau University women's tennis team made strides Friday, but still came up on the short end of a 5-3 loss to Schreiner.
Maddison Brackenreg and
Bailey Deatherage both accounted for the YellowJackets' three points, but it wasn't enough to salvage LETU's first win of the season.
Brackenreg beat Jennifer Garcia, 6-4, 1-6, 10-7, at No. 1 singles. Deatherage was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Marlee Daniel at the No. 3 position. Brackenreg and Deatherage combined for an 8-4 win over Kate De los Santos and Garcia at No. 1 doubles.
The YellowJackets dropped the remaining two doubles matches, the third position an 8-7 (7-2) verdict for Tracy Truong and Iris Montero over
Samantha Trevino and
Sierra Giesen Linssen. The Jackets also lost the remaining singles matches in straight sets.
LeTourneau will play at Southwestern and at Concordia Texas Saturday.
