Jackets Drop 2 on Saturday

GEORGETOWN, Texas – LeTourneau University women's tennis team dropped both matches on Saturday. The YellowJackets (0-7) fell, 6-0, to Southwestern and 6-3 to Concordia.

Against the Pirates (6-1), Maddison Brackenreg and Bailey Deatherage fell to Esther Bowers and Nina Mitrofanova, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Summer Apostalo and Amber Van Duyn lost to Mary Cardone and Emma Kesterson, 8-1. Samantha Trevino and Sierra Giesen Linssen fell 8-1 to Alli Ziehm and Mariana Quetzeri, at the No. 3 position.

Transitioning into singles play, Trevino fell to Cecile Wilde, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2. Deatherage lost to Meeshti Shethia, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot. Apostalo dropped her No. 4 singles match to Chandler Vrba, 6-0, 6-0.

In Austin against Concordia (2-3), the women were able to pick up momentum despite their loss.

Brackenreg and Deatherage lost to Cassandra Landeros-Cabrera and Isabella Wiik, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles. Apostalo and Van Duyn lost to Claire Austin and Kaitlin Stevens, 8-6, at the No. 2 position. Trevino and Giesen Linssen secured a 8-6 victory against Natalia Goodman and Rachel Sweitzer at No. 3.

The YellowJackets moved into singles play with their first point of the day. Brackenreg lost to Landeros-Cabrara, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. Trevino fell to Wiik, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2. Deatherage defeated Austin, 6-4, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot. Apostalo dropped her No. 4 singles match to Goodman, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 5, Giesen Linssen beat Alejandra Rueda, 6-4, 6-2. Van Duyn fell to Sweitzer, 6-0 6-1, at No. 6. Sophie Hill fell to Stevens, 6-1.

What's Next?
The YellowJackets head to Hilton Head Island, S.C. to compete in the Hilton Head Spring Tennis Fest March 9-12.
