HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – LeTourneau University men's tennis team continued to get strong play from the bottom of its lineup en route to another win.
The YellowJackets beat Lake Forest College, 7-2, at the Hilton Head Spring Tennis Fest Wednesday. LETU improved to 8-3, while Lake Forest fell to 5-5.
The Jackets swept doubles for the third time this season.
Jimmie Henson and
Christian Farris outbattled Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and Chase Garber, 8-7 (7-4), at No. 1.
Julian Lee and
Miles Grubbs rolled over Jacob Tilton and Brant Christensen, 8-0, at No. 2.
Nathan Schmidt and
Rodrigo Vazquez Chairez were 8-2 winners over Zach Cho and Pratheek Mandalapu at No. 3.
The Foresters picked up two points at the top singles flights, but LeTourneau won the bottom four matches comfortably to seal the win. Lee defeated Mandalapu, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3. Schmidt beat Garber, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4. Vazquez Chairez beat Oliver Gallego, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5. Grubbs coasted past Christensen, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6.
The YellowJackets will meet Berry College at 11 a.m. Thursday in their final match of the Spring Tennis Fest.
