LONGVIEW, Texas – The LETU women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in an American Southwest Conference fixture at the Joyce Family Athletics Complex Friday.

With the result, the Yellowjackets dropped to 3-12-2 on the campaign, including 1-8-1 tilts. The Tigers improved to 9-4-3, 5-3-2.

This was the 29^th edition of the women's I-80 Derby since LETU's move to Division III and the contest was a tightly contested affair, despite the final stats. ETBU outshot the Yellowjackets 24-8, but the stat was inflated by attempts that never had a chance to find the back of the net.

Many of the attempts either went high or wide, never threatening goalkeeper Kiersten Reeser. Of the 11 shots on target, the Tigers managed to register three or four realistic chances of beating Reeser.

Brianna Mickshaw notched the lone goal of the contest when she finished off a pass from Aylisse Warren six minutes into the second half.

Senior Kara Gipson recorded three of the Yellowjackets eight shots and nearly netted the equalizer with just over 30 minutes remaining. She beat her defender and had a clear shot at the upper left corner, beating the visitor's keeper with a blistering attempt that clanked off the crossbar. LETU continued to pressure the Tigers' defense but could not crack the scoreboard.
