WAUKESHA, Wis. – Warren Richardson and
Andrew Eberhardt paced LETU's 94-74 victory over Crown College at Van Male Fieldhouse Saturday.
The YellowJackets improved to 4-0 on the season, winning the Pioneer Pre-Thanksgiving Classic, opening the campaign with back-to-back tournament titles. The Storm suffered defeats in both games and fell to 3-4 on the year.
Eberhardt netted 30 points, his second game in two days with 30 or more points. He added nine boards and four assists. His 68 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and six steals in the two contests, earning him tournament MVP honors.
Richardson recorded his second career double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and joined Eberhardt on the all-tournament team. He accumulated 46 points and 17 boards in the event.
Deonte Jackson tallied his fourth double-digit scoring game of the season, tallying 15, none bigger than his back-to-back triples late in regulation.
Leading since the 18:17 mark, mostly by double-digits, LETU built a 16-point margin at 50-34 when the teams headed to the locker room. The Storm burned a timeout just four minutes into the final 20 period after their deficit ballooned to 24 at 63-39.
With the large advantage and playing the backend of a back-to-back, the YellowJackets began to empty their bench. Crown capitalized and ran off 18 of the next 22 points, reducing its deficit to 10 at 67-57, with 9:15 left in regulation.
Over the next four minutes the margin fluctuated but the Storm was unable to get the deficit down to three possessions. An 8-2 spurt fueled Jackson's pair of triples and a putback by Richardson put the game out of reach at 84-66 with just under three minutes left.
