ATLANTA – Convincing fashion!

LeTourneau women's basketball capped off the road trip sweep Sunday, defeating Oglethorpe University 86-60 at the Dorough Fieldhouse in Atlanta, Georgia.

LETU (3-1) put together a show defensively, forcing the Stormy Petrels into 23 turnovers and had a season high 16 steals. Keauna Whitfield led these defensive efforts, swiping a season high six steals. LeTourneau tallied 19 points from Oglethorpe turnovers, while committing a season low 11 turnovers of its own.

Only carrying a three-point lead into the second quarter, the YellowJackets widened the margin in the second when Ajanae Thomas nailed one from long distance, granting LETU an eight-point leverage, 27-19. Oglethorpe's Carley Bell made a layup to shrink the LeTourneau lead to six, but back-to-back buckets from Malacia Guy and Kyndall Hardeman pushed the LETU lead to 10. Two made free throws from Thomas at the end of the second quarter, gave the Jackets an 11-point advantage heading into halftime, 34-23.

LeTourneau outscored OU 15-7 in the second quarter, holding the Stormy Petrels to 3-10 shooting.

The YellowJackets jumped on Oglethorpe early to begin the second half, springing out to a 12-2 run, extending its lead to 19. Ty Moon slashed through Stormy Petrel defense to push the LETU lead to an even 20, but OU's Taylor Smith answered with a bucket of her own. Whitfield would close out the quarter in good standings for the Jackets, connecting from behind the arc to keep the Jacket lead at 20 going into the fourth, 61-41.

LETU's attack didn't slow down in the final period, sparking an 8-2 run to open the quarter after Jordan McClenton knocked in two free throws. Caroline Hutchison converted a layup from Allaiya Jones to propel the Jacket lead to 25, 75-50. The YellowJackets would not look back en route to a dominating 26-point victory.

Inside the Numbers:
Whitfield led the Jackets with 20 points, three rebounds and one assist.
Thomas stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal.
Allaira Jones finished with 15 points and six rebounds.
Guy had eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Moon totaled eight points and two rebounds, while Hardeman finished with six points.
Thomas surpassed her season high.
11 YellowJackets tallied atleast one point in the contest.
LeTourneau outrebounded Oglethorpe 38-34.
LETU only trailed for six minutes throughout the entire contest.
The Jackets held a 9-0 second chance points advantage over the Stormy Petrels.
