LONGVIEW, Texas – The LETU men's basketball team moves into uncharted waters when they host Howard Payne Saturday.
Unblemished at 5-0 overall, the YellowJackets are one win away from their best six-game stretch to open a season in 21 NCAA campaigns. This is the first 5-0 mark and the fourth time LETU reached five wins in its first six games.

Howard Payne holds a 13-11 advantage in the series, but LETU is 7-3 at Solheim Arena. The YellowJackets enter with a five-game winning streak, outscoring HPU 504-347 during the stretch.
LETU opened American Southwest Conference play with a 67-58 triumph over Sul Ross State at home Thursday. Howard Payne was blasted by UT Dallas 94-49, dropping to 2-5, 1-2.
The YellowJackets average 88.2 points, the second-highest total in the conference. The defense allows 74.6 points on average, placing fifth.
Andrew Eberhardt's 24.6 points per game ranks second in the league, while teammates
Deonte Jackson (18.8) and
Warren Richardson (18.4) are fifth and sixth, respectively.
Howard Payne is eighth in the 11-team league at 73.6 points per game and ninth in points surrendered, averaging 83.9 per contest.
The Yellow Jackets offense is led by Michael House and Myles Brown. House nets 13.7 ppg, placing 19
th in the conference. House is two spots behind with 12.6 points per game.
