BELTON, Texas – LeTourneau University women's tennis team fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday, 6-3, in the conclusion to its season-opening road trip.
 
The Jackets (1-2) will return to Longview to host Concordia Texas in the home opener 4 p.m. Friday.
 
Amber Van Duyn won both of her matches for the YellowJackets, and LETU won two of the three doubles matches. But the Crusaders captured five of the six singles matches to pick up the victory in their season opener.
 
Brandy Weems and Van Duyn beat Amanda Almanza and Laurel Turco, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles. 
Sierra Giesen Linssen beat Victoria Rendon and Alondra Torres Diaz, 8-5, at No. 2 pairs. UMHB's Katy Beach and Sofia Sanchez defeated 
Bailey Deatherage and 
Summer Apostalo, 8-4, at the No. 1 position.
 
Van Duyn notched LETU's only singles point when she beat Turco, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), at No. 6 singles.
 
Giessen Linssen fell to Beach, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, at the top singles flight. Sanchez beat Apostalo, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 2. Weems fell to Rendon, 7-6 (11-9), 6-0, at the No. 3 position. Torres Diaz beat 
Mimi Samdi, 6-1, 6-0. 
Savannah Orton dropped a tough three-set battle with Almanza, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 10-5, at No. 5 singles.
 
It was the second straight year LeTourneau fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor by a 6-3 score. Last year's match was in Longview.
