YellowJackets Sting Wildcats, 5-0

LONGVIEW – The YellowJackets had a field day on Senior Day.
 
LeTourneau University's men's soccer team scored a season-high five goals in 5-0 shutout of Louisiana College Saturday night at LETU Soccer Field. It was a night the YellowJackets (4-2, 1-1 American Southwest Conference) honored its three departing seniors Eric Smith, Trent Hudman and Austin Dobbs.
 
It also was LETU's fourth shutout of the season.
 
Chancey Davis and Oliver Placencia scored two goals apiece, and Noah Garcia recorded his first goal as a YellowJacket. Placencia was credited for an unassisted goal in the 19th minute after the ball caromed off his backside into the net. Davis gave the Jackets a two-goal lead at halftime when he fielded a pass from Santi De La Torre, dribbled in and deposited the ball in the back of the net for his second goal of the season.
 
Placencia scored his fourth goal of the year on a header after Russell Gray banged a shot off the cross bar in the 55th minute to pad LeTourneau's lead to three goals early in the second half.
 
Less than two minutes after subbing in, LETU freshman Noah Garcia scored his first career goal to extend the lead to 4-0. Andrew Mejia was given an assist. Davis notched his third goal of the year in the 74th minute on another assist from De La Torre.
 
It was the first multi-assist game of the year for De La Torre. Placencia recorded his second two-goal game of the season. It was Davis' first multi-goal game of his career.
 
Jackets goalkeepers CJ Leyva and Kolton Johnson shared the shutout. Leyva made six saves in 65:35. Johnson had one save in 24:25.
 
The YellowJackets outshot the Wildcats, 20-6, in the second half and 28-16 in the game. LeTourneau had 12 shots on goal. Louisiana College had seven.
 
LETU will host the University of Texas at Dallas 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
