MARSHALL, Texas – LeTourneau's softball team dropped a doubleheader at No. 7 East Texas Baptist Friday, both games by 5-0 scores.
ETBU (25-5, 21-5 American Southwest Conference) scored twice in the second inning, once in the third and two more in the sixth. Preslye Cox improved to 9-2 in the circle.
Bailey Richey fell to 9-3.
The YellowJackets (14-14, 13-13) managed just two hits in the opener.
Katelyn Trombley and
Callie Poore each had a hit, but the Jackets could string anything together to push a run across. Trombley singled to right center to lead off the top of the fourth, and Poore followed with a single through the left side. On
Isabella Tresca's ground out, Trombley and Poore advanced to third and second, but the Jackets hitters stranded them.
Haley Claterbaugh was hit by a pitch in the top of the seventh, and advanced to second on
Ashley Crawford's ground out. But she was stranded there to end the game.
In the nightcap, the Tigers scored three times in the first and twice in the sixth. LETU left runners on base in each of the first six innings, and came away empty.
Poore had two hits. Trombley and
Lauren Wilking each were 1-for-3. Trombley extended her hitting streak to five games. Poore had her eighth multi-hit game of the season.
Ashley Croft (8-0) got the win for the Tigers.
Alysa Torres (2-4) suffered the loss.
The two teams will meet at noon Saturday to conclude the regular season.
