ABILENE, Texas –
Deonte Jackson and
Andrew Eberhardt combined for 45 points in LETU's 97-85 victory over McMurry at the Kimbrell Center Saturday.
The YellowJackets earned their third win in eight days, improving to 11-2 overall, including 6-2 in American Southwest Conference play. McM dropped to 4-8, with a 2-5 mark against league opponents.
Christian Adams buried a three from the corner, giving the guests their fifth lead in the first three and a half minutes into the contest. Adams' triple and driving layup off a turnover bookended a 15-2 spurt that gave his squad some breathing room at 24-14, with 11:10 remaining in the first.
Playing their first game in three weeks, the War Hawks attempted to keep the game close. They trimmed the deficit to a three-possession game on four different occasions in the final minutes of the period. Jackson laid the ball in the basket as time expired, extending the margin to 50-37.
After an important win over No. 22 Hardin-Simmons Thursday, LETU methodically increased its margin. The YellowJackets built a 20-point advantage in the first five minutes of the period.
Head Coach
James Wallace started emptying his bench after Jackson's jumper in the paint and with 8:12 left, gave his side the largest cushion at 85-58. Jackson registered 25 points on 10 of 17 from the field.
Eberhardt was among the first to be subbed out, finishing four assists shy of a triple double. He notched 20 points, 10 rebounds and six helpers.
Warren Richardson and
Rashard Johnson chipped in with 10 points each, while
Jordan Pride collected a game-high 12 boards.
