LONGVIEW, Texas -- A couple of second-half goals seals a win for the visiting Hendrix over LeTourneau women's soccer team Tuesday evening.
Hendrix (9-4) was able to score a pair of goals in the second half. The first one was off the boot of Kaitlyn Gilkey and assisted by Madison Lampkin in the 69th minute to break the 0-0 draw. Madison Lampkin, after recording an assist was able to add to her stats putting one into the side net.
LeTourneau (2-6-2) goalie,
Kiersten Reeser recorded six saves in just 45 minutes of play within the second half. She was able to make a save directly off the foot of Sydnee Pritchett near the top of the box and was able to hop up and make a diving save to her left side just a few moments later off the foot of Mackenzie Sinclair in the 56th minute. Later on, in the 82nd minute, Reeser kept hope alive for the YellowJackets with a penalty kick diving save to her right side.
The Yellow Jackets were able to then go down and win a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to give an opportunity to bring it within one. Haley Salzar put a nice driven shot to the left side of the net, however, the Hendrix keeper, Elisabeth Caton Nelson was able to make the parry it off to her right back into play. Caton Nelson was able to keep the cleansheet with two saves on the night.
