ABILENE, Texas -- Despite a strong defensive effort, the LeTourneau women's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 loss at McMurry in ASC action on Thursday night.
The loss drops LeTourneau to 2-4-2 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
LeTourneau limited McMurry to just nine shots in the match, but the host War Hawks took advantage of an opportunity in the first half to cash in the contest's only score.
Kiersten Reeser made two saves at the net in 90 minutes of action.
McMurry (3-4-2, 1-1-0 ASC) scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 26th minute. Emily Holland scored her fifth goal of the season, assisted by Katie Wilson, as the hosts grabbed a 1-0 lead.
That shot was just one of five in the first 45 minutes as the visiting YellowJackets held McMurry at bay.
LeTourneau turned up the pressure in the second half, but was unable to find the equalizer.
Zoe Harbison had a look on target in the 67th minute, but her shot was saved by McMurry keeper Priscella Caruson. The YellowJackets had four shots in the match and held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
Caruso made one save to collect the shutout for McMurry.
