Wimbleduff's 3-pointer Leads to Another Women's Basketball Overtime Win

HOUSTON, Texas -- A Johnai Wimbleduff 3-point jumper with five seconds left in regulation helped send the LeTourneau women's basketball team to overtime where they held on to beat the hosting St. Thomas 67-61 on Wednesday evening.

LeTourneau now holds a 2-1 record with the come-from-behind win. The YellowJackets are now 2-0 in overtime games.

An out-of-bounds play where Kyndall Hardeman assisted Wimbleduff in her off-balance 3-point jump shot with five seconds left to tie the game at 56 a piece.
In the extra period, the Celts jumped ahead with an early three-point jumper to secure a lead. After that point, the YellowJackets were able to draw a trio of fouls where they went 4-of-6 from the charity stripe to take the lead at 60-59 over the Celts. A Haylee Jordan jumper and a Wimbleduff layup found LeTourneau at a 64-60 lead with 1:24 left on the clock.

Wimbleduff finished the evening with 23 points and 10 rebounds to mark her first career double-double, while Jordan secured 10 rebounds and eight points to go along with two blocks and two steals.

Bailey Broughton saw the free-throw line 10 times where she went 7-for-10 and finished with two assists before she fouled out.

LeTourneau controlled the boards as they were one rebound short of 50 securing 49 rebounds (20 offensive). Adding to that total Hardeman had eight rebounds to go along with her three assists, three steals, three blocks, and seven points. Ty Moon tallied nine boards and three points before she fouled out.

LeTourneau led 2-0 in the first quarter and did not regain the lead until the fourth quarter when Wimbleduff got an offensive rebound which led to a Hardeman layup to give the Jackets a 45-44 lead with 7:25 to go in the game. The Celts' lead was as large as 11 points before the Jackets were able to work their way back to an eventual overtime victory.

St. Thomas had three double-digit scorers between Hayden Morin with 19, Alexya Castillo with 12, and Laura Jones who scored 10 points.
