Men's Basketball Drops Exhibition at SFA

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's basketball team opened the 2022-23 campaign with a 93-40 loss to Stephen F. Austin in an exhibition inside William R. Johnson Coliseum on Monday night.

The game was an exhibition for LeTourneau as the YellowJackets open the regular season on Thursday against Texas College. It was the regular season opener for Stephen F. Austin (1-0).

Walker Blaine drained a 3-pointer at the 18:18 mark of the first half to get the YellowJackets on the board, but the host Lumberjacks went on an extended run through the half and built a 53-13 lead at the break.

LeTourneau played even with SFA through the first 10 minutes of the second half as Warren Richardson hit two 3-pointers, while Christian Adams and Rashard Johnson also had triples in the period.

LeTourneau was led by Richardson's 10 points and Johnson's nine. Adams and Blaine had six points apiece. The YellowJackets hit eight 3-pointers, including five in the second half. Deonte Jackson tallied five rebounds and a pair of assists.

The Lumberjacks got 20 points from Sadaidriene Hall to go along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Four SFA players tallied double-digits in points as the Lumberjacks connected on 52.9 percent from the field for the game.

LeTourneau opens the regular season at home on Thursday by hosting Texas College (6 p.m.).
