Jackson's Career-High 38 Not Enough in Loss

ABILENE, Texas -- Deonte Jackson scored a career-high 38 points, but the LeTourneau men's basketball team could not hold a double-digit lead in the second half as McMurry stormed back for a 95-83 victory over the YellowJackets in ASC action on Saturday inside Kimbrell Arena.

LeTourneau (3-4, 0-2 ASC) led by 13 points early in the second half only to see McMurry rally and end the game on a 17-5 run to secure the home win.

Jackson totaled 38 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including four 3-pointers, and a 14-for-14 effort at the foul line. It was his first 30-point game of the season and his ninth straight game of 20-plus points back to last season.

Warren Richardson added 14 points and nine rebounds while Caleb Ceasar scored seven points with three rebounds in his first career start. Christian Adams tallied seven points with eight rebounds and three assists.

LeTourneau trailed by five early in the game but used a 25-9 run over an eight-minute stretch to take a 28-17 lead after a John Argue free throw with 8:47 left in the first. Richardson had eight of his 14 points during the run and LeTourneau took an 11-point lead (43-32) into halftime.

A Richardson bucket on LeTourneau's opening possession of the second half gave the YellowJackets their largest lead of the game at 45-32. McMurry outscored the YellowJackets 20-6 over the next four-plus minutes and regained the lead for the first time since early in the contest at 52-51 on a CJ LeBlanc layup with 14:58 left.

Jackson had 22 of his 38 points in the second half as he helped the YellowJackets respond. The junior hit a 3-pointer with 8:41 remaining to give LeTourneau a 70-65 lead and hit a tough basket a few minutes later to keep the YellowJackets in front at 74-70 with 7:18 left. McMurry (1-6, 1-1 ASC) took over at that point. The host War Hawks hit seven of their final 11 shots from the field and went 10-of-12 at the free-throw line down the stretch to rattle off a 25-9 run to end the game. A LeBlanc triple with 3:45 remaining gave the War Hawks the lead for good at 81-78 and sparked the 17-5 streak to end the game.

LeBlanc led McMurry with 21 points as five War Hawks hit double figures in scoring. He also added seven rebounds and four assists. TJ Hilliard added 19 points and Elias Garcia had 18 points. McMurry shot 45.2 percent (33-of-73) from the field and connected on 59.5 percent (22-of-37) in the second half.

LeTourneau hit seven 3-pointers and went 20-of-25 from the foul line while making 50 percent (28-of-56) from the field. It was the second time this year LeTourneau has shot 50 percent from the floor.
