LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU fell 4-2 to No. 25 UT Dallas in game one of Sunday's doubleheader at Conrad-Vernon Field Sunday.
The YellowJackets drop to 1-4 overall, including 0-2 in American Southwest Conference play, while the Comets improved to 2-0, 2-0.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth, in a seven-inning game, freshman
Hunter Miller sliced the deficit to one with a two RBI double to right. After surrendering a two-out RBI in the top of the seventh, the YellowJackets went down in order in the bottom of the frame.
Senior
Raul Martinez toed the slab for LETU and carried a no-hitter into the fifth but took the loss. He allowed three runs – two earned – in six innings of work. He surrendered five hits, three walks – one intentional – and fanned two.
Brayden Ferrie tossed the seventh, gave up one run on two hits and one free pass, while retiring three by strike out.
