Softball Falls in Finale

Longview, Texas – LeTourneau Softball lost to Sull Ross in its last game of the series Monday, 5-1.

Despite falling in the third and final game, the YellowJackets won the series versus the Lobos, 2-1. LeTourneau moves to 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the American Southwest Conference, while SRSU improved to 7-6, 4-5 ASC.

The Lobos came out hot to start the contest, tallying four runs in the top of the first inning, which ultimately stifled the YellowJackets.

Emilee Anderson grounded out to the shortstop for a sacrifice RBI in the bottom of the third inning, scoring Madelyn Tannery for the lone Jacket score. SRSU led 4-1 moving into the fourth.
Sul Ross would tack on another run in the top of the fifth to seal the deal for the Lobos.

LETU had four hits on the day, while SRSU tallied 10. Alysa Torres went 2-of-3 at the plate to lead LETU. Alexa Neilon and Tannery had the other two hits for the YellowJackets. Laney Taylor took the loss in the circle for LeTourneau, pitching 4.1 innings with two strikeouts. Sul Ross' Jodie Vaughn went the distance to capture the win.

The YellowJackets take the field Mar. 4 at 4 p.m. as it travels to McMurry for a series.
