ABILENE, Texas – LETU softball dropped a pair of games at McMurry Friday, 9-2, 9-1, in the first two games of the American Southwest Conference series Matchup.
LeTourneau fell to 4-8 overall and 2-5 in the ASC, while McMurry moved to 8-4, 6-4 ASC.
In game one the War Hawks drew first blood in the bottom of the third, tallying two runs to take a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth. Blanking the Jackets in the fourth and the fifth inning, McMurry tacked on two more runs at the bottom half of both innings to extend its lead to five.
In the top of the sixth, 
Callie Poore sent a double to right field to get the YellowJackets on board, scoring 
Hunter Handley on the play. 
Alexa Neilon tried to help fuel the LETU comeback when she collected an RBI to move 
Kylie Grisham across home for a score to close out the inning, McMurry led 4-2.
The War Hawks countered the two Jacket runs with a five run inning in the bottom of the sixth, ultimately putting the game out of reach for LETU.
Alysa Torres, 
Emilee Anderson, Poore, and Grisham each tallied a hit in the first contest. Halie Leger took the loss for LeTourneau, pitching 4.1 innings with one strikeout.
McMurry got on the board first in game one, scoring one run in the bottom half of the first inning.
After a scoreless second inning for both squads, the War Hawks struck again with a six run inning in the third to push its lead to seven, 7-0.
LeTourneau freshman 
Preslie Turney tallied an RBI for the YellowJackets when she smacked a single to right center, advancing fellow freshman 
Jordan Angeles in for a score in top of the fifth.
McMurry would go on to close out the contest at the bottom fifth with two more runs, fulfilling the run rule.
Torres and 
Lauren Wilking both had a hit, going 1-2 at the plate. Turney and 
Kiley Banks both put up a hit in game two. 
Bailey Richey took the loss for LETU, pitching 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. 
Lexi Hutchins also saw time in the circle with 2.0 innings pitched and three strikeouts.
The YellowJackets return to Edwards Field in Abilene for the third and final game of the series Saturday at 12 p.m.
