LONGVIEW, Texas – Mark Petkovsek powered Millsaps to a 3-2 victory over LETU at Conrad-Vernon Field Sunday.
Bradley Pelle opened the scoring with a one-out homer in the eighth, giving the Majors (2-1) a short-lived advantage.
Kyle Maysonave answered with a blast of his own in the home half of the frame.
In the ninth, with one on and one out, Petkovsek's drive over the fence in left center pushed his side back in front.
The YellowJackets (1-2) rallied in the bottom of the frame, falling one run short. After the first two batters were retired, Maysonave flipped a single into right – the third in succession for the home side, plating Jarred Vaugh.
Cameron Pfafman scampered to third on the play but was stranded on a fielder's choice.
Pfafman and Maysonave registered two hits, accounting for 4 of 7 for LETU. Cody Stanly, Vaughn and
Devin Greaff collected a knock each.
Head coach
