KERRVILLE, Texas – Despite a career day at the plate for junior
Anthony Ybarra, LETU dropped the series opener at Schreiner 5-2, at Bob Henry Field Saturday.
The YellowJackets dropped to 5-12 on the season, while the Mountaineers moved to 7-5.
Ybarra recorded three of his team's eight hits, including his first-career triple. His five total bases established a new personal best. He drove in one of the two runs.
Dane Jones trimmed the deficit to 3-1 when he scored
Dylan Cortes on a two-out single in the fifth. After a pair of runs extended the gap to 5-1, Ybarra plated
Kyle Maysonave, decreasing the margin to 5-2.

Schreiner jumped out to a 2-0 advantage after one frame, courtesy of three hits with two down. The Mountaineers tacked on a sole marker in the fourth.
Raul Martinez made his fifth start of the campaign on the mound, tossing 6.0 innings. He allowed five runs – three earned – scattering six hits, walked three and struck out six.
Shane Salzman relieved Martinez, retiring the side in order in the sixth, including one by punch out.
