Men's Tennis Falls in Final Day at PTR Spring Fest

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – LETU men's tennis dropped its last match to Newberry at the PTR Spring Fest Thursday, 6-3.

The YellowJackets were supposed to matchup with the Wolves a day earlier, but weather canceled the first matchup.

LeTourneau took victories in the No. 1 and 3 doubles slots to take an early 2-1 lead over Newberry.

Jonah McGinty and Miles Grubbs cruised by Luke Layton and Adam Black in the third position, 6-2, to take a 1-0 lead. The Wolves' Stratas Anastopoulo and Enzo Blavignat defeated Ryan Holloway and Nathan Schmidt at No. 2, 7-5. Julian Lee and Patrick Baney took down Mateo Bivol and Leo Zancheta, 7-5, at the top doubles flight to seal the deal in doubles action.

NewBerry rattled off five singles victories to take the match win over LETU.

Jeffrey Golladay tallied the only Jacket win in singles play at the sixth slot, outlasting Layton in the tiebreak set, 10-5. Lee fell to Bivol at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1. Holloway dropped at No.2 against Anastopoulo, 7-5, 6-1. Schmidt lost to Lawrence Friedland at line three, 6-4, 6-1. Zancheta beat Grubbs at No. 4, 8-7 (8-6).

LETU looks to bounce back in its next contest Mar. 22 at 3 p.m. at Hardin-Simmons.
