LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU Softball took down Hardin-Simmons in the final game of the series Saturday afternoon, 9-1.
The Jackets run ruled the Cowgirls, ending the contest in the bottom of the sixth.

LETU moves to 6-14 overall and 3-9 in American Southwest Conference play. HSU falls to 17-6, 9-6 ASC. The YellowJackets tallied 10 hits with zero errors, while Hardin-Simmons had six hits with three errors on the day.

Madelyn Tannery home for a 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless second inning, the YellowJackets blanked the Cowgirls in the top half of the third before putting together a four run inning in the bottom.
Torres stayed with a hot bat as she pounded one over the left field wall for two runs. LETU capitalized on a field error to collect its third run, while
Preslie Turney singled up the middle of the Cowgirls defense to advance
Macy Clevenger in for the fourth run of the inning.
LETU let up the lone run in the fourth but countered in the bottom of the inning with three runs of its own. The Jackets capitalized on a pair HSU errors for two runs when Tannery scored on a wild pitch and
Kylie Grisham and Poore scored on a fielding error. The Jackets led 8-1 to set up Neilon for her sacrificed bunt RBI to seal the deal.
Torres led the YellowJackets at the plate with three RBIs, going 3-3 in the final game. Tannery and Poore had two hits apiece. Turney and Grisham both tallied one hit and one RBI, respectively.
Emilee Anderson marked a hit in the game.
Bailey Richey went the distance for the Jackets to collect the win. Richey faced 26 batters, allowing six hits and one run with three strikeouts.
LETU begins its six game road trip Mar. 25 with a doubleheader at Howard Payne at 1 and 3 p.m.
