LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU men's tennis notches its second consecutive sweep after taking down East Texas Baptist, 9-0, in an American Southwest Conference East division matchup.
The YellowJackets move to 8-8 overall and 3-1 in the ASC East. The Tigers fall to 5-12, 1-3 ASC East.
The dynamic duo of
Ryan Holloway and
Nathan Schmidt tallied the match's first point at No. 3, defeating Abraham Silva and Brycen Fear, 8-2.
Julian Lee and
Patrick Baney followed, beating Christian Dubec and Slade Austin at the No. 1 doubles slot.
Rodrigo Vazquez and
Miles Grubbs solidified the doubles sweep after winning against Randal Lemmon and Tim Cooley at line two.
Lee and Baney marked its fifth win in a row and 12
th of the season, while Holloway and Schmidt tally their 13
th.
In singles action, Lee dominated at the top flight, cruising past Dubec, 6-0, 6-0. Vazquez outlasted Austin at No. 2, winning in the tiebreaker set, 10-5. In the third position, Holloway defeated Lemmon, 6-1, 6-0;. Baney took care of business at line four, beating Parker Stewart, 6-1, 6-1. Schmidt sailed past Matthew Fuhr, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5. Grubbs took down Silva in the sixth spot, 6-1, 7-5.
LETU host St. Thomas Friday, April 22 in its final regular season match at 12 p.m.
