LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU women's tennis dropped a home match Thursday against East Texas Baptist, 7-2.
LETU got on board first after
Bailey Deatherage and
Brandy Weems defeated Isabella Duarte and Andrea Alvarez, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles. With this win, Deatherage and Weems mark their second consecutive. The Tigers took the final two positions to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles action.
Madison Morris and Megan Leblanc fell to Javde Childress and Gabbi Hammerbach at No. 1, 8-6.
Emma Boulanger and
Clara Brisman dropped a point to Corrine Hall and Kylee Mixon at line three.
As singles play included two points decided by a tiebreak, ETBU took five of six positions to clinch the match victory.
Boulanger totaled the lone YellowJacket win after outlasting Duarte in the tiebreaker set, 10-4, at No. 5. Boulanger marked her second consecutive singles victory. LeBlanc fought hard at the third slot, ultimately falling in the tiebreaker set 6-2 to Alvarez. Deatherage lost to Childress at the top flight, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). In the second position, Hammerbach beat Morris, 7-6, 6-2. Hall edged Weems at No. 4, 6-4, 7-5.
Sophie Hill fell to Faith Kirk at the sixth position, 6-2, 6-2.
The YellowJackets wrap-up its regular season at home as it takes on St. Thomas Friday April, 22 at noon.
