LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU women's tennis jumped back into the winning column Friday afternoon after defeating the University of St. Thomas (TX), 6-3.
Regardless of a default win for LETU at No. 3 doubles, the Jackets managed to secure two match points at the first and second positions to sweep the Celts in doubles action.
Bailey Deatherage and
Brandy Weems took down Karissa Guzman and Regina Lopez at line three, 8-2, for its third consecutive win.
Madison Morris and
Megan LeBlanc secured the sweep, defeating Alejandra Lopez and Jenny Reynolds at the top flight, 8-4.
Despite the Celts winning in three spots in singles, the YellowJackets picked up two more points by default due to a condensed UST roster, securing the match win.
Sophie Hill put the icing on the victory, winning a hard fought battle at No. 4 singles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
LETU finishes the regular season with momentum, winning two of its last three matches, as it gears up to head to the American Southwest Conference Championships April 28-May 1.
