LONGVIEW, Texas –
Andrew Klingenstein provided the offense and
Aman Patel shutdown UMHB's offense, helping LETU claim a 3-0 victory at Conrad Vernon Field Friday.
With the triumph in the first of two Friday, LETU improved to 13-20 overall, including 10-16 American Southwest Conference play, while the Crusaders dropped to 17-15,11-12.
Patel spun his first career shutout, surrendering five runs, two walks and striking out one over seven innings.
Klingenstein blasted a three-run homer – the first of his career - in the fourth inning.
Ethan Wood reached on a fielder's choice and
Cody Stanley walked in front of Klingenstein.
LETU tallied five hits, with Wood,
Dane Jones,
Jaggar Vaughn and
Devin Greaff joining Klingenstein in the hit column. Jones laced a double to right center in the fifth, recording his team high 11th of the season.
