LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU men's tennis cruises past Ozarks, 9-0, in an American Southwest Conference East division matchup on senior day.
As senior day was upon the LETU tennis program, the men's team took its seniors out in style, dominating against the Eagles for its second sweep of the season.
Julian lee and
Patrick Baney tallied the first point for the Jackets at No. 1 doubles, taking down Hikaru Yamaya and Kao Lenkopane, 8-3.
Ryan Holloway and
Nathan Schmidt followed with a doubles victory of their own, defeating Joshua Wilde and Griffin Huckelbury, 8-2, at line three. In the second position,
Rodrigo Vazquez and
Jonah McGinty downed Aaron Gambrell and TJ Saniseng, 8-2, to cap off the doubles sweep.
The YellowJackets didn't let up in singles action, carrying its momentum to take all six singles positions.
Lee sailed by Yamaya at the top flight, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2, Vazquez won against Gambrell, 6-0, 6-2. Holloway notched his fourth singles victory in a row at the third spot, taking down Wilde, 6-2, 6-0. Baney defeated Jan Puvill Fuertes in the fourth position, 6-0, 6-1. Schmidt beat Lenkopane, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5. Grubbs edged Nico Castells at line six, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
LETU moves forward in its ASC East divisional play as it takes on crosstown rival East Texas Baptist Thursday at 3 p.m.
