Nationally-Ranked UMHB defeats Women's Soccer

LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team returned home for the first time in almost four weeks on Thursday night and fell to nationally-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor, 4-0, in the conference opener at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

It was the first match in 11 days for LeTourneau (2-2-2, 0-1 ASC) and the first contest at home since Sept. 3. Mary Hardin-Baylor (8-0, 1-0 ASC), ranked No. 15 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, remained undefeated on the year.

Kiersten Reeser made six saves at the net for the host YellowJackets in her 80-plus minutes of action.

Mary Hardin-Baylor struck early as Mackenzie Worthy scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match. Worthy put away the eventual game winner in the second minute as she collected her own shot off a deflection and scored from inside the box to make it 1-0. She then tacked on another goal in the ninth minute to give the visiting Cru a 2-0 lead.

The LeTourneau defense kept the YellowJackets in the contest for much of the match before the Cru wore down the hosts and added two more scores in the second half. Maria Rico scored in the 67th minute and Constance White had the final tally in the 86th minute.

Heather Fellows and Kaitlyn Menard had shots on target for LeTourneau. Ainsley Westlake made two saves in the second half for Mary Hardin-Baylor.
