Terra Tucker and
Gabriella Sanchez scored first half goals and the LeTourneau women's soccer team dominated Austin College in a 2-0 win on Saturday evening at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
The win was the first for new head coach
Steve Lord at LeTourneau as the Yellowjackets improved to 1-1 on the year. LeTourneau has won three of the last four against Austin College (0-2) in the all-time series.
Tucker scored her first collegiate goal as she notched the eventual game-winner in the seventh minute of play.
Brandy Moran connected with Tucker on the score as the host Yellowjackets took a 1-0 lead.
Sanchez made it a 2-0 margin with her goal in the 23rd minute, assisted by
Clarissa Martinez. The score was Sanchez's second of the season, while Martinez collected her first assist.
LeTourneau held a 13-1 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes of play. In the match, the Yellowjackets out-shot Austin College18-3 and 5-2 in corner kicks.
None of the three Austin College shots were on target as the LeTourneau back line was stout throughout the 90 minutes. Keeper
Kiersten Reeser collected her first clean sheet of the season. Austin College keeper Heaven Barber made six saves in the loss.
Moran led all players with three shots each, while five other LeTourneau players took two shots each.
