Thomas' Season-High Leads Women's Hoops to Second Straight Win

LONGVIEW, Texas -- AJ Thomas' season-high 20 points led the charge for the LeTourneau women's basketball team as the YellowJackets beat the visiting Ozarks, 62-46, on Thursday night inside Solheim Arena.

The win was the second straight for LeTourneau (6-9, 2-6 ASC).

Kylie Weeks had a career-high 16 points of her own while Bailey Broughton added 12 points and Kyndall Hardeman contributed with 11 points. Haylee Jordan was a menace on the boards with 12 rebounds to help the YellowJackets with the rebound advantage, 49-41.

LeTourneau started the game with an 11-0 run, that started with an opening basket from Thomas and ended with a 3-pointer from Weeks. The YellowJackets extended the lead to 13 later in the period and never trailed in the contest. LeTourneau shot 47 percent in the opening period.

Ozarks (6-9, 3-5 ASC) trimmed the LeTourneau lead to three (33-30) at halftime, but the YellowJackets allowed just 16 points in the second half.

The visiting Eagles would make things interesting to finish the third quarter cutting the YellowJackets lead to only four points, 42-38, but two good free throws from Weeks and a layup by Thomas with 9:08 remaining in the fourth quarter would extend the lead for the hometown YellowJackets back to eight, 46-38.

LeTourneau totaled 15 steals and turned 24 Ozarks turnovers into 21 points. Alyssa Hall would add three blocked shots to the mix to go with a YellowJackets team total of six.

Ozarks was led by Makya Perryman's 10 points and Judy Forbes who had 11 rebounds.
